RBC receives Business for the Arts Award
RBC was one of three companies to receive awards of distinction
at the 31st Annual Business for the Arts Awards gala held
on October 31, 2009 at the Art Gallery of Ontario. The award
recognizes our commitment to the arts as demonstrated by the
RBC Emerging Artist Project which supports more than 30 projects
across Canada, helping artists bridge the gap from the academic
to the professional world in theatre, musical performance,
writing, film-making, glassmaking, playwriting, curatorship,
design and choreography.
"We believe in the power of the arts to enrich our lives
and enhance our communities," says Shari Austin, Vice
President of Corporate Citizenship for RBC, and recipient
of the award at the gala event. RBC also hosted a number of
partners for the gala event including The Canadian Opera Company,
The Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music,
The National Ballet of Canada, Roy Thomson Hall and The National
Gallery.
Formed in 1974, Business for the Arts is a national non-profit
business association committed to enhancing the quality of
life in Canadian communities by increasing private sector
support of the arts.
